Ceramic Tile

Eco-Tile from Quarry Tile Company

Our Natural Hues on Eco-Body is a commercial grade, glazed ceramic tile body made from recycled solid waste. It was developed over a period of several years by Quarry Tile Company in Spokane, WA. to meet not only the technical guidelines of Presidential Order 13101 and the EPA, but the spirit of the order as well.

The Eco-Body contains approximately 34% recycled solid waste as defined by the EPA's Comprehensive Procurement Guideline(CPG) program and the EPA's RMAN's. Previously that waste was going to public and private landfills. About 17% is post-consumer waste and about 17% is post-industrial. All of the recycled waste products are recovered from within a 350 mile radius of our manufacturing plant and replace materials that previously were brought in from as far away as 2300 miles.

Natural Hues on Eco-Body also contains reprocessed glaze waste from Quarry Tile Company's other manufacturing operations. Quarry Tile Company has for many years collected its glaze over spray, body scrap, and process water in a closed loop, zero discharge, water reclaim system. This collection process produces a filter cake that can be put back into the clay body. While not part of the recycled percentages listed above, up to 10% by weight of this filter cake may also be added to the clay body to make the Eco-Body.
