Cathexes Architecture (NV)

About Us

Cathexes is the plural form of Cathexis. By definition, Cathexes is an investment of mental or emotional energy into a person, object or idea.

Founded in 1985, Cathexes has become one of the largest architecture firms in Northern Nevada. Since that time, founding principal Donald J Clark, AIA has remained committed to the same philosophy and principles on which Cathexes was built.

The embodiment of Cathexes is the passionate commitment to the exploration of the life experience, heightened through a willingness to accept any consequence of risk and encourage to dream what might be. We endeavor, through architecture, to influence our culture, foster the education of ourselves and that of others, and to lead in prodessional excellence.
Green Architecture

Green Architecture, or sustainable design, are terms used to describe economical, energy-saving, environmentally-friendly, sustainable development. It describes the relationship between architecture and ecology- between design and the envrionment. Since its inception, Cathexes has recognized architecture's footprint on the earth.

Green Architecture is thoughtful architecture. It is critical now more than ever to utilize the technolgies and philosophies of smart growth, resource efficient design and environmentally sensitive materials and systems.

A green building must first serve the needs of its users. It supports and nurtures their health, productivity, and emotional well-being; while applying strategies of sustainable architecture- safe construction, the use of durable, natural resource efficient materials, reliance on th esun for natural lighting, thermal and electric power, reduction of waste and responsible recycling of wastes.
